Dixie Lee Martin Sampson passed away June 30, 2017 at the Cambridge House in Bristol, TN. She was a native of Washington Co., VA born to Denton Hughes Martin and Bertha Caywood Martin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Clifton, Arthur, Bradley, Yokeley, and James; sister, Maxine Carter; her husband of 47 years, Steaven Sylvester Sampson; and step daughter, Betty Jean Blevins.Dixie and her husband owned and operated Sampson's Restaurant on Main St. in Abingdon for 16 years. She was employed by H.P. King Co. as a cashier in the Service Desk for 17 years. She was a member of Fellowship Chapel and the Dorcus Circle, Bristol Breast Cancer Support Group, charter member of the Bristol Historical Society, and past Nobel Grand of Twin City Rebekah Lodge #102. She loved gardening, sewing, reading, traveling, volunteering and most of all, spending time with her family. She never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her.Survivors include daughters, Linda (Charlie) Arnold and Deborah Miller (friend Alex Andersen) of Bristol, TN; sisters, Voy Mae Babetski of Downingtown, PA, Ann Cross of Bluff City, TN, and Barbara Stewart (Doug) of Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Cyndi (Josh) Smith of Canton, GA, Chuck (Honi) Arnold of Ocean Springs, MS, and Nathan Miller and Derick Miller of Bristol, TN; great grandchildren, Camryn and Parker Smith; step grandchildren, Louanne Blevins and Millicent McCroskey; step daughter, Mary Lou Ellis of Neptune Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Jim Kester.The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Blevins Funeral Home, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. A Memorial Service will follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Scott Price and John Roe officiating. The Committal & Interment Service will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA. Honorary Pallbearers will be her dear neighbors whom she loved so much. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Fellowship Chapel Church, 201 Crockett St., Bristol, VA 24201 or the charity of your choice.
