John Michael Newton

John Michael Newton, 63, of Bluff City, Tennessee passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee following an extended illness. He was born in Bristol, Tennessee on November 30, 1955, a son of the late Donald and Ella Sue Grindstaff Newton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Debra K Newton. John and his wife, Debra, loved racing cars and raced for many years together in the Bristol area. He was employed for many years at Strongwell in Bristol and Chemgrate in Piney Flats. He loved reading and loved all of his animals. John is survived by one daughter, Michelle Newton and fiancé, Chris Goodwin of Bluff City, Tennessee; two brothers, Steve Newton of Bristol, Tennessee and Dave Newton of Bluff City, Tennessee. A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Bunker Hill Christian Church, 490 Bunker Hill Rd., Bluff City, TN 37618. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Sullivan County Animal Shelter, 380 Masengill Road, Blountville, TN 37617.
