Roger Brooks, 70, of Bristol, VA passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Bristol, TN on March 12, 1946, a son of the late William J. Brooks and Arbutus Moore Brooks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Phil Brooks.Roger began his career as a coal miner in 1972 and retired as a mine mechanic in 2000. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing cards and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.Roger is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cynda Brooks; daughter, Candyce Brooks; two grandchildren, Olivia and David Brooks; four brothers, Randall Brooks and wife Arlene, Wayne Brooks and wife Martha, Bill Brooks and wife Jane, and Mark Brooks and wife Mary; two sisters, Debbie Jackson and husband Roger and Joyce Eads and husband Michael; two aunts, Imogene Bowers and Fayrene Eades; brother-in-law, Ben Brewer and wife Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends starting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Joyce Eades residence, 21124 Tranbarger Rd., Bristol, VA. A Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, VA with Brother Phil Whitaker officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandson and nephews. Military honors will be provided by Bristol VFW Post #6975.Read Obituary

I was Sorry to hear that Roger passed away, Claude always enjoyed seeing him and counted him among his many friends. They can have a glorious visit now, you all are in my prayers at this sad time.

I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Please know that you all are in my prayers. I remember going to his house once and he had a drawer full of spiced luncheon meat. We made sandwiches. Not sure but I think we may have played cards. Joyce, I am so sorry I can't come. My granddaughters Mammaw passed away this morning.
