Barbara Ann Ward Harris Brooks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Ann Ward Harris Brooks, 82, of Bristol, VA passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at her home. She was born in Marion, VA on August 3, 1935, a daughter of the late Jack and Mary Barber Ward. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Chan Brooks; daughter, Ginny Lynn Sheets; step son, Tommy Brooks; and brother, Willard Ward. While living in Columbia, SC, she attended Free Temple Baptist Church and was an Executive Assistant of Acquisitions at the University of South Carolina-Thomas Cooper Library. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, bowling, and canning. Her children were the love of her life. Barbara is survived by her children, Douglas R. and Freida Harris, Barbara Sue and Bill McCready, David E. and Judy Harris, Charles M. and Joy Harris, Kenneth D. and Deana Harris, W. Dean Harris, Sherry Harris, and Leisa and Allen Heath; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one brother, Charles and Linda Ward. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bruce Brooks, his wife Kay, and their daughters, Sarah and Rebecca and to caregivers, Kim Reynolds and Tammy Anderson for their exemplary care and love. A Graveside Service and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum, Bristol, VA with Dr. Rhonda Gentry's officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Wellmont Hospice House, 1 Medical Park Blvd., Bristol, TN 37620.
