Edward Ernest Talbert

Edward Ernest Talbert, 95, of Bristol, Tennessee passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Cambridge House in Bristol, Tennessee. He was born in Bristol, TN on February 15, 1919, a son of the late Robert and Emma Hicks Talbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Talbert; and a brother, Roy Talbert. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 5th armored division.. He was a member of Rosemont Presbyterian Church and the men's Sunday school class and retired in 1985 from Wallace Oldsmobile as the sales manager after many enjoyable years. He was a longtime member of the King Masonic Lodge #461 and the Jericho Shrine Temple, the VFW, and the American Legion. He greatly enjoyed fishing, golf, nascar, speculating on football, and playing the occasional practical joke on his many friends. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Dorris Dutton Talbert, son, Larry Talbert and wife Terrie; daughter, Leesa Talbert and husband Jeff Hensley; former daughter in law, Sandra Talbert; grandchild, Sherry Miller; a granddaughter in law, Whitney Talbert; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Miller, III., Austin Talbert, and Cora Talbert and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to nurses and assistants at Cambridge House for all the love and wonderful care during his stay there. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Blevins Funeral and Cremation Services, 417 Lee Street, Bristol, Virginia. The funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Alan Chapman officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at Mt. View Cemetery with military honors.
