Elsie Virginia "Smithey" Rose Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Elsie Virginia “Smithey” Rose, 84, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the evening hours of Saturday (December 11, 2021) at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Elsie was born on October 22, 1937 in Washington County, VA to the late Ray Samuel & Dorothy Esther (Luchini) Smithey. Elsie enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and spending time with her family and friends. Elsie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Rose, Sr.; and two brothers, Louis and Charlie Smithey. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Henry Rose, Jr. & wife Rebecca; daughter, Tracy Tester & husband Cody; two granddaughters, Morgan Whitaker & husband Ezra and Kayla Carlson & husband Jon; three great-granddaughters, Victoria and Mattie Burch and Sophia Carlson; one great-grandson, Jacob Whitaker; four brothers, Jimmy, Johnny, J.W., and Ray Smithey, Jr.; four sisters, Shirley Icenhour, Minnie Baker, Mary Lou Maxey, and Lena Ferguson; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Committal services will be held on Saturday (December 18, 2021) at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery with Pastor Ray Bowman officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Caris Healthcare for the exceptional care that was both given and shown in Elsie’s time of need.
