Elwanda Pennington Burleson, 93, of Piney Flats, Tennessee passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at her residence. She was born in Princeton, WV on February 10, 1922, a daughter of the late Albert and Louise Meador Pennington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Elwanda is survived by her son, Ed Burleson and wife Ressie of Piney Flats, TN; one grandson, Michael Burleson of Baneberry, TN; two granddaughters, Robin Burleson McKinney and husband Steve of Elizabethton, TN and Renee Burleson of Johnson City, TN; three great grandchildren; and three great great grandchilden. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 at Parkway Baptist Church, Bristol, TN. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm at the church with Dr. Gary Montgomery officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, TN. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Burleson and Steve McKinney and great grandson, Scott Burleson. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to Parkway Baptist Church, 1253 Volunteer Pkwy., Bristol, TN 37620.
