“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and the finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God”. Hebrews 12: 1-2 Emily Caroline (Allen) Saunders, 97, entered into the loving arms of Jesus during the morning hours of Tuesday (October 26, 2021) at Ballad Health Hospice House in Bristol, TN. Emily was born on February 15, 1924 in McKeesport, PA to the late Thomas Bayne & Emma (Wunderley) Allen. Emily was preceded in death by her husband Samuel K Saunders who passed 21 years ago on October 26, 2000; two brothers, Walter and Chester Allen; and sister, Louise Allen. Emily grew up in the Christian Faith. She attended various Christian Churches/ Churches of Christ where her husband was the minister. Emily and Samuel were Missionaries in Tokyo, Japan after WWII. Emily was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; sister, aunt, and friend; she will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her are two daughters, Rebecca Johnson & husband Eddie and Pamela Saunders; sister, Helen Allen; two grandchildren, Matthew Johnson & wife Laura and Amy Wood & husband John; three great granddaughters, Alex Johnson, Bri Johnson, and Rachel Wood. Emily will be laid to rest on Saturday (October 30, 2021) at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery with her son-in-law, Eddie Johnson officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Ballad Health Hospice House (280 Steeles Road Bristol, TN 37620; 423-431-6146) in memory of Emily Saunders.
