Helen Gay Smith

Helen Gay Smith, 94, of Bristol, Virginia passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at her residence. A native of the Wallace community. She was born on November 12, 1917 to the late John Douglas Hoover and Rosa Belle Tate Hoover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur F. "Jack" Smith, by her daughter, Sylvia Rose Gomez and her husband, Gilbert Gomez. Helen was a member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church. She is survived by her nieces; Ruth Maggard of Woodstock, GA, Ann Fleenor of Franklin, TN, Nancy Gardner of Charlotte, NC, Sherry Talley of Bristol, TN, Ann Slagle of Kingsport, TN, Peggy Barnes of San Antonio, TX, Margaret Tolbert of Bristol, TN; and the children of her heart, Bob and Liz Weaver, Camie Perry and Holly Moore. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Blevins Funeral Services. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm. with Reverend Laura Plaster officiating.
