Hobert C. Houser, 81, of Bristol, TN went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 11, 2017 peacefully in his home with his son and wife by his bedside. He was born in Blountville, TN on June 30, 1936, a son of the late Lee and Cora Houser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Cam Houser and a nephew, Michael Cross. He was a United States Army veteran and retired from Smith's Transfer. He was a faithful member of Fellowship Chapel Church for many years. Poppy loved his garden full of flowers but was always helping others, so if you choose you may make a donation to Fellowship Chapel Meals for Shut-Ins, 201 Crockett St., Bristol, VA 24201 and Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 W. Left to cherish his memory is Hobert's treasured bride of 57 years, Martine Moretz Houser; son, Jonathan Houser and wife Sherri; three precious grandchildren, Brieanna, Caitlin, and Austin; honorary grandchild, Katlyn Bowles; god-daughter, Michelle Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the care, visits, and prayers by friends, neighbors, church, and extended family. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Christopher Kennedy and staff for the years of care and comfort, thanks to Home Instead of Bristol and Amedysis Hospice, and thanks to Christina Craft, NP with the VA Hospital in Johnson City for all of their help and loving care. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Price and Associate Pastor Bryan Hall officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, TN. Pallbearers will be Eddie Allison, Brent Pritchard, Tom Fehr, Frank Boardwine, Jerry Vincill, and Allen Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Lambert, Dean Thomas, Jackie Eades, Gary Riden, Jerry Miller, Jessie Honeycutt, Rocky Honeycutt, and special pet, Max. Military honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 40 Honor Guard.
