Jo Newton

Jo Newton, 82, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, TN. She was born on January 7, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Newton; son, Lindsay Newton; sisters, Margaret Haga and Jean Castle; and nephew, Kerry Haga. She served in the Women's Auxiliary of the Bristol Lifesaving Crew for many years and was awarded for working with Crime Prevention from the city of Bristol, VA. She spent most of her adult life living in Bristol, VA and spent the last 13 years in Oak Ridge, TN. She loved writing poems, sewing, crafts and her family. Jo is survived by her daughters, Carol Davis of Lake St. Louis, MO and Kandice Baker of Oak Ridge, TN; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.. A Graveside Service for friends and family will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Mountain View Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the Graveside Service are asked to be at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
