Joe L. Arnold Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Joe L. Arnold of Bristol, VA and Hilton Head Island, SC left his earthly life on Monday, February 27, 2017 in Atlanta, GA after a courageous battle with cancer with his close friend K. Brett Thackston by his side. Born September 10, 1936 in Bristol, VA to Thomas E. & Zella Moore Arnold. He graduated from Virginia High School and Wake Forest University. Joe was Vice President of Moore's Quality Snack Foods, Inc. until 1989 at which time he retired. However, he did not stay retired for long as he then established J & A Snack Food Corporation (The Pork Rind Factory) in Spartanburg, SC. A philanthropist throughout his life Joe continued his mother, Zella Moore Arnold's, lifelong support of the Boys and Girls Club of Bristol, He believed in giving back to his community. His quality contributions to numerous charities will continue to make a positive difference in Bristol and surrounding areas. Whether a close friend, business associate, co-worker, or employee Joe, private and humble in nature, had a unique way of making people feel special. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Thomas E. and Zella Moore Arnold and a nephew Thomas Lee Arnold. He is survived by brother Jack (Nancy) Arnold; nephew, Jim (Michelle) Arnold; great nieces, Alicia (Logan) Patrick and Tessa (Jacob) Roulston; and special friends, Charlie and Rose Robinson, Sarena Crumley, K. Brett Thackston, George Smith, Swain Thompson, and Jane L. Sheffey. At Mr. Arnold's request, there will be no scheduled visitation at the funeral home. Those wishing may attend a memorial service at Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum, Bristol, VA on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Dan Birchfield officiating.
