Leon "Bud" Francis Stedman Jr.

Leon "Bud" Francis Stedman Jr. Leon "Bud" Stedman, Jr.,90, of Bristol, Virginia passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee following an extended illness. He was born in Clifton Forge, VA on April 20, 1925, a son of the late Leon Francis Stedman and Julia Ruth Seal Stedman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Morgan Stedman. He was a resident of Bristol and was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. Bud was a Lab Supervisor with Dairyman for 25 years. He was a member of McIver Memorial Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Bristol Life Saving Crew, Bristol, VA and the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads. Bud was also a member of the Bristol Senior Show Choir and a founding member of the St. Andrews Society of MacRea Meadows. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lila Ruth Guffey Stedman; a son, Ned D. Stedman; two daughters, Robin Stedman, and Andrea Leonard, and her husband Doug of Bristol, TN; a brother, Charles A. Stedman of VA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:45pm, on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Blevins Funeral and Cremations Services, 417 Lee Street, Bristol, VA 24201. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00PM following the visitation with Rev. Alan Chapman officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00am, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Mt. View Cemetery, 1019 E. Valley Street, Bristol, VA. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Bristol Life Saving Crew, 1601 Euclid Avenue, Bristol, Virginia 24201.
