Margaret L. Montgomery Haga

Margaret L. Montgomery Haga, 91, of Bristol, Tennessee entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2015 after a short illness. She was born in Jackson Hole, WY on August 16, 1923, a daughter of the late A. C. and Elma Montgomery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon E. Haga; and sister, Jeanne Castle. She lived most of her life in Bristol, VA. She was a loving mother and homemaker. During her lifetime she had many accomplishments. While her children were growing up, she was president of PTA, instrumental in having John S. Battle High School built, a Register of Voters of the 9th District of Virginia, a property manager in California and served on various community committees in Bristol, VA. She was a member of State Street Methodist Church. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Deborah Mullins and husband John of Phoenix, AZ; son, Kerry Haga and wife Diane of Bristol, VA; three granddaughters, Traci Haga of Bristol, VA, Kristen Armstrong and husband Mark of Phoenix, AZ, Nichole Haga Norman and husband Michael of Fredericksburg, VA; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Hayley Norman of Fredericksburg, VA, and Sophie, Calder, Max and Simon Armstrong of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Arta Jo Newton of Oakridge, TN; sister-in-law, Audrey Haga Worley of Bristol, VA; and several special nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Broadmore Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Smokey Mountain Hospice for their care and love. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, January 9, 2015 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Reverend John Thrasher and A. D. Jones officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Mountain View Cemetery in Bristol, VA.
