Maxine L. Buchanan

Maxine L. Buchanan, 89, of Bristol, VA passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at NHC Healthcare of Bristol. She was born in Oxford, OH on September 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Lester Huffman and Mamie Jackson Huffman. Maxine attended Bristol, TN city schools and business school majoring in accounting. She was employed by Martha Washington Inn as a night auditor and bookkeeper for several years before relocating to Knoxville, TN in 1973. She retired and returned to the Bristol Area in 1994. Her favorite hobbies were crafting Christmas ornaments, crocheting afghans and making heirloom handmade quilts to share with family and friends. Maxine is survived by one son, Keith Buchanan and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Todd Buchanan and wife Kacey and Isaac Buchanan; and great grandchildren, Austin Keller Buchanan, Adie Ratcliffe and Colton Ratcliffe. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jason Moore and nurse Linda Brock for their loving care over the years. Also, thanks to special longtime friend Tammy Beaty for always being there, NHC staff and CARIS Healthcare for your care and support. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The committal service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to a charity of your choice.
