Nila Sue McCracken

Nila Sue McCracken, 79, of Bristol, TN passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Wellmont Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born in Nickelsville, VA on July 26, 1938. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos Luster Harlow and Virgie "Bush" Shoemaker Harlow; brothers, Paul and Neal Harlow; granddaughter, Jennifer McCracken; and special niece, Joyce Creech.She was a 1955 graduate of Nickelsville High School and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.Nila is survived by her husband of 58 years, Billy McCracken, sons, Rick McCracken and wife Ann, Benny McCracken and wife Jenni, and Dennis McCracken and wife Bessie; daughters, Connie Hardin and husband Guy, Sandy Marshall, Pam Shipley and husband Randy, and Sherry Fleenor; brother, Danny Harlow and wife Marie of Surgoinsville, TN; sisters, Rubye Carter and husband Fred of Knoxville, TN, Linda Portwood and husband Presley of Taylors, SC, Verna Meade of Kingsport, TN, and Dorothy Creech of Morristown, TN; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great granddaughter on the way.The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Scott Spence officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
