Ronald Donniel Cox Sr., 66, of Bristol, VA passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Mendota, VA on December 19, 1950, a son of the late Walter and Lenar Harper Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald D. Cox, Jr. and best friend and Hot Wheels buddy, Larry Gobble.He was a retired truck driver with Paty Lumber Company and loved to collect Hot Wheels.Ronald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lillie Cox; daughter, Rhonda Kyte; two sons, Michael Cox and Kevin Cox and wife Marie; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and best friends, Roger Gibson and Donald Pecky. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Johnson City Medical Center ICU; Mountain States Cardiology; and all the physicians who cared for Ronald during his illness.The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastors James Hall and Sean Franklin officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Forest Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Abingdon, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
