SGT Travis Ray Kudela

October 8, 1988 - April 24, 2016

SGT Travis Ray Kudela, 27, of Bristol, VA passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Cocoa, FL. He was born in Ft. Worth, TX on October 8, 1988. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Greer. Friends and Family we have lost one of our own. SGT Travis Ray Kudela, a loving father of two beautiful girls passed away in a terrible car accident on April 24, 2016. He was an outstanding soldier and friend. He served his country with honor for eight years. SGT Kudela medically retired from the Army on February, 2015 leaving behind a life he had grown to love. He did three tours in Afghanistan. He twice received the Army Commendation Medal; received the Army Acheivement Medal; and twice received the Army Good Conduct Medal. He served with 2/2 IN out of Fort Hood, TX as well as Fort Knox, KY. The last unit that he served with was 2nd IN Stryker Cavalry Regiment out of Vilseck, Germany. Travis is survived by his two daughters, Astraia and Alethia Kudela; their mother, Ashley Kudela; sister, Hollie Kudela; and father, Lawrence Greer. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Highlands Fellowship, 2004 Lee Highway, Bristol, VA 24201. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Robinson officiating. The committal service and interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN.
