Van J. Cuddy Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Van J. Cuddy passed away on October 23, 2014. Van was born in 1928 in Clinchburg, Virginia to Trigg and Hattie Cuddy. In addition to his parents, Van was predeceased by his siblings: Claude, Ed, Harry, and Lucille. Van loved his church, football, card games, old western movies, furniture restoration, gardening, and more than anything, making people laugh. Van served his country in the United States Air Force and retired after a long career as a professional welder. Van was a member of North Baptist Church of Bristol, Virginia. Van is survived by his children, Nancy (Grady) of Fort Mill, SC, Jerry (Laura) of Tega Cay, SC, Gary (Stephanie) of Bristol, VA, and Patty of Fort Mill, SC; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Benedum of Charlotte, NC, the staff of The Ivey in Charlotte, NC, the staff of HarborChase Memory Care of Rock Hill, SC and Hospice of SC for their loving care. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm with Reverend Allen Moore officiating. The committal service and entombment will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum in Bristol, VA. Pallbearers will be, Chad Swygert (grandson), Roger Cuddy (nephew), Tony Smith (nephew), Calvin Bentley, George Brooks, and Lacy Denton.
