Winifred E. Campbell

Winifred E. Campbell of Blountville, Tennessee entered into rest Monday, January 29, 2018 at Cambridge House. She was born in Nottinghamshire, England on June 11, 1923, a daughter of the late Oswald and Maude Turner Else. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Eldridge Campbell; sisters, Irene, Ivy, Nan, and Betty; brother, William; and several nieces and nephews. She was drafted into the Women's Land Army in WWII. She met James Campbell and they married on February 2, 1944. She was an active volunteer. She was a member and former trustee of Woodmen of the World, Girl Scout leader and camp director for 25 years, member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church for 65 years, served in the Bristol Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for over 30 years and volunteered in the gift shop. She also volunteered at Bristol Paramount Theatre, Theatre Bristol Productions and sang in the Bristol Senior Show choir. She will be greatly missed by all. Winifred is survived by her daughter, Jill Mendeljian of Temperance, MI; grandson, Grant and wife Amy; and great grandchildren, Ryan and Reese of Frisco, TX. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 700 Cumberland St., Bristol, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent to the charity of your choice in Winifred's name.
