Zelma E. Wright

Zelma E. Wright, 90, of Bristol, VA passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at NHC Healthcare of Bristol. She was born in Bristol, VA on February 7, 1926, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mamie Moore Grubb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Fred G. Wright; two brothers, Mack Grubb and Bill Grubb; and a sister, Virginia Patterson. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and co-owner of Wright's Market. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U. and a seamstress at Gordon Garment at her retirement. Flowers were her passion and she loved many different kinds. Zelma is survived by her son, Robert Wright and wife Carol of Bristol, VA; three daughters, Jane Campbell of Bristol, VA, Betty Atkinson and husband David of Lexington, SC, and Barbara Lewis of Savannah, TN; sister, Irene Combs of Bristol, TN; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Pat Morrison of Bristol, TN. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services, 417 Lee St., Bristol, VA. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Dennis Burnette officiating. The committal service and interment will follow the funeral at Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her honor to Friendship Baptist Church, 20572 Benhams Rd., Bristol, VA 24202 or to the charity of your choice.
