Hazel Carter Bowman

Hazel Carter Bowman, 86, of Bristol, VA passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2019 in Bristol, VA. She was born in Bristol, TN on January 3, 1933, a daughter of the late George and Pearl Goodwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Carter; her second husband, Jim Bowman and seven brothers and sisters.Hazel attended Victory Baptist Church, Bristol, VA. She worked for many years at Burlington and then went on to work for several years at Strongwell. Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family, canning and gardening.Hazel is survived by her son, Keith Carter of Bristol, VA; brother Bobby Goodwin and his wife Brendagail of Copperas Cove, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at NHC of Bristol for all the love and care shown to Hazel.The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2019 at Mountain View Cemetery, Bristol, VA with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.
